MATTO

Terms of Service

Effective Date: September 18, 2026

1. Introduction

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Matto Entertainment website (mattoentertainment.com) and all services offered by Matto Entertainment. By accessing our site or booking our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our site or services.

2. Services Provided

Matto Entertainment provides professional DJ and entertainment services for weddings and corporate events, DJ and equipment packages, and photo booth rentals in Ottawa and surrounding areas. Detailed descriptions of packages and pricing are available on our website. Availability is subject to booking confirmation.

3. Booking and Payment

For bookings made more than 90 days before the event, every Wedding or Photography booking with no deposit yet received requires 25% of the complete tax-inclusive total. A booking with a deposit already received keeps that exact deposit amount. All other services require the fixed $250 deposit shown below.

Service CategoryNon-Refundable Deposit
Wedding (including Plug & Play)25% of complete total, including applicable HST
Photography25% of complete total, including applicable HST
Photo Booth, Special Amenities$250
DJ + Equipment, DJ Only, Corporate & Custom Events$250

The 25% calculation applies to every Wedding or Photography inquiry or booking with no deposit received. Once a payment is received, the exact amount paid is never recalculated, and the remaining balance equals the contract total minus actual payments received. All other service categories require a fixed $250 deposit.

Your booking is confirmed only once the required deposit or full payment is received and confirmed in writing by Matto Entertainment. Until payment is received, your date is not reserved and remains available to other clients.

Bookings within 90 days of the event: If you book within 90 days of your event date, the full amount is due immediately at the time of booking. No deposit split, full payment upfront, no exceptions.

Remaining balance: For bookings made 90 or more days before the event, the remaining balance is due 90 days before the event date, unless a different due date is stated on your invoice. Clients will receive a reminder prior to the due date. Failure to pay the balance by the due date may result in cancellation of the booking without refund of the applicable deposit.

Balance payment within 30 days of the event: The remaining balance may only be paid within 30 days of the event date if explicitly agreed to and confirmed in writing by Matto Entertainment. This exception is granted solely at the Company's discretion and is not guaranteed. If not approved, the standard 90-day balance due date applies.

Full payment option: Clients may choose to pay the full amount at the time of booking. If full payment is made at booking, no further balance will be due. Full payment is subject to the same cancellation terms in Section 4.

We accept e-transfer, debit, and credit card payments. All payments must be made directly to Matto Entertainment or through a platform authorized by us in writing. By making a payment, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and our Payment Terms & Cancellation Policy.

4. Cancellations and Refunds

All cancellations must be submitted in writing via email to Matto Entertainment.

Client Cancellation

  • Applicable non-refundable deposit: Regardless of when you cancel, the applicable deposit is non-refundable. For Weddings and Photography with no deposit received, this is 25% of the complete tax-inclusive total. A booking with a deposit already received keeps that exact deposit amount. For all other services it is $250. Paying in full does not waive it.
  • Cancel 90 or more days before the event: The total amount paid, minus the applicable non-refundable deposit, will be refunded in full.
  • Cancel fewer than 90 days before the event: No cash refund will be issued. The total amount paid, minus the applicable non-refundable deposit, is retained as a credit toward a future booking.
  • Future booking credit: Your original pricing will be honored on the rebooked date, even if rates have since increased, and the credit does not expire.
  • Balance payment within 30 days of the event: The remaining balance may only be paid within 30 days of the event date if explicitly agreed to in writing by Matto Entertainment. This exception is granted at the Company's discretion and is not guaranteed.
  • Failure to pay the remaining balance by the due date: will be treated as a client cancellation and this cancellation policy will apply.

This policy reflects the Company's commitment to reserving the event date and declining other potential bookings on the Client's behalf.

Cancellation by Matto Entertainment:

If Matto Entertainment must cancel due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., emergency, illness, technical failure), you will receive a full refund of all payments made, including the deposit, and we will make reasonable efforts to help secure a suitable replacement.

Rescheduling Policy

The Client may request one (1) rescheduling of their event date at no additional charge, provided the request is submitted in writing no less than 14 days before the original event date. Rescheduling is subject to Company availability and must be confirmed in writing by the Company. If the requested new date is unavailable, the original cancellation policy will apply. Requests submitted less than 14 days before the event date will not qualify for rescheduling and will be treated as a cancellation.

Performer Substitution

In the rare event that the assigned performer is unable to fulfill the booking due to illness, injury, or emergency, the Company will notify the Client as soon as reasonably possible and will make best efforts to arrange a qualified substitute performer of comparable skill and experience. If a suitable substitute cannot be secured, the Client will receive a full refund of all amounts paid. The Company's liability in this situation is limited solely to the refund of payments received and does not extend to any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

For full details, refer to our Payment Terms & Cancellation Policy.

5. Client Responsibilities

Clients must ensure that the venue provides a safe and suitable environment for our services.

Venue Requirements: The venue must provide:

  • Reliable electrical power and safe access for all equipment.
  • A secure setup area with reasonable time for setup and teardown.
  • Protection and proper care for all Matto Entertainment equipment and property.

Event Delays: Delays caused by the client or venue do not extend the contracted service time and do not entitle the client to a refund or discount.

Photo Booth Specific Requirements: For photo booth services, the following also applies:

  • The client must ensure that the photo booth is placed in a location with adequate access to a stable and reliable Wi-Fi connection.
  • The client must ensure reliable Wi-Fi is available for live gallery uploads and digital photo delivery via SMS, AirDrop, or other supported sharing methods.
  • Matto Entertainment is not responsible for any interruption, delay, or failure affecting live gallery uploads, SMS delivery, AirDrop sharing, or other digital functions caused by insufficient, unstable, or unavailable Wi-Fi at the venue.

Service Delivery & Partial Performance: If the Company is unable to deliver the full contracted service time due to circumstances within its control, a proportional credit will be applied to any future booking. This applies only where less than 80% of the contracted service time is delivered. No refund or credit applies where delays or interruptions result from venue conditions, client scheduling, guest conduct, or circumstances beyond the Company's reasonable control.

6. Noise Bylaw & Venue Compliance

The Client is responsible for ensuring the event complies with all applicable venue policies and local regulations, including noise limits, sound ordinances, required permits, and operating hours.

The Company will follow all reasonable instructions from venue staff or local authorities regarding sound levels and event operations. Compliance with such instructions may affect performance time and does not qualify for refunds or extensions, as these factors are outside the Company's control.

The Client is responsible for obtaining any required event permits and assumes full responsibility for any venue or bylaw violations.

7. Overtime & Service Extensions

Requests to extend services beyond the scheduled end time are subject to availability and prior Company approval. The Company reserves the right to decline overtime requests at its sole discretion, including due to scheduling conflicts, venue restrictions, or safety considerations.

If approved, additional hours requested on the event date, during the event, or after the event has begun are billed at $149.99 plus applicable taxes per hour, with a minimum one-hour increment. Overtime must be confirmed in writing by the Client or a designated representative before services continue. Written confirmation includes text message, email, or any other documented form of communication. Payment is due immediately after the event. If not collected immediately, the Company may issue an invoice after the event, and the Client remains responsible for payment of all approved additional hours.

If overtime has been pre-authorized in advance, it may be automatically applied up to the agreed limit. Continuation of services beyond contracted time without written approval is at the Company's discretion and remains billable.

8. Additional Services and Photo Booth Rentals

Requests for add-on services (e.g., photo booth rentals, extended hours) must be made at least 14 days before the event and are subject to availability. These services incur additional fees, which must be paid in full before the event. For photo booth services, clients are responsible for providing adequate setup conditions, including power and reliable Wi-Fi where required for features such as live gallery uploads and digital sharing. Matto Entertainment is not responsible for delays or failures in these features caused by poor or unavailable connectivity. Details of our photo booth packages are available on our Photo Booth page.

9. Limitation of Liability

The Company is committed to delivering professional and reliable service. To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • The Company is not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages, including but not limited to emotional distress, loss of enjoyment, or dissatisfaction with the event outcome.
  • Maximum liability is limited to the total amount paid by the Client under this Agreement.
  • The Company is not responsible for venue conditions, guest conduct, or actions of third-party vendors.

We are not liable for any failure to perform due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control (including severe weather, natural disasters, power outages, government restrictions, or venue closures).

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Matto Entertainment and its employees from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising out of your event or your breach of these Terms, including injuries to guests or third parties and damage to property.

11. Intellectual Property

All content on our site, including text, graphics, logos, and images, is owned by or licensed to Matto Entertainment and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not use, reproduce, or distribute our content without prior written consent.

12. Force Majeure

Matto Entertainment will not be liable for delays or non-performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as severe weather, natural disasters, government restrictions, or venue closures. In such cases, we will make reasonable efforts to reschedule the event within a 6-month period, subject to availability. If rescheduling is not possible, a credit may be issued at our discretion. Refunds are not guaranteed in force majeure situations.

13. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada. If a dispute arises, both parties agree to first attempt to resolve the matter through mediation. If mediation fails, the dispute will be resolved by arbitration in Ontario. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario for any necessary court proceedings.

14. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective when posted on our website. Continued use of our site or services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, along with our Payment Terms & Cancellation Policy and Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Matto Entertainment regarding your use of our services and website.

17. Image Authorization & Promotional Use

By confirming your booking, you grant Matto Entertainment permission to capture and use photos and videos taken during the event for promotional and marketing purposes (e.g., on our website, social media, and advertising materials). If you wish to restrict the use of photos or videos, you must provide written notice before the event date. The client is responsible for ensuring that all necessary permissions have been obtained from individuals appearing in the photos or videos. The client agrees to release and hold harmless Matto Entertainment from any liability related to the authorized use of such images.

Privacy & Data

The Company may collect personal information including contact details and event photos or videos in the course of providing its services. Such information is collected solely for service delivery and promotional use as outlined in this Agreement, and is handled in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy legislation, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

By confirming your booking, the Client confirms they are of legal age and consents to the use of event photos or videos as outlined above. The Client acknowledges that events may include minors and accepts responsibility for notifying the parents or guardians of any minor guests that event photography or videography may occur and may be used for promotional purposes.

The Company will not knowingly feature identifiable minors as the primary subject of any promotional material. It is the Client's sole responsibility to communicate any restrictions regarding minors to the Company in writing prior to the event.
